NPM's 2018 Annual Report  centres around our vision of Māori Leading New Zealand into the Future and providing research of excellence that will benefit all of our communities. Download a full digital copy here.

In 2018, more than 350 research outputs were produced from our research and activities, amongst a full programme of 48 research projects, and over 200 Māori researchers, with multiple wānanga, partnering with communities, scholarships and training as well as our 8th Biennial International Indigenous Research Conference.

The report describes our focused and multi-institutional, transdisciplinary research platforms in Whai Rawa (Māori Economies), Te Tai Ao (the Natural Environment), Mauri Ora (Human Flourishing) and our programme of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori (The Māori Language and Protocols) as well as our work with over 40 summer research interns across the country, and premiere international Indigenous scholarship activities such as our journals - MAI Journal and AlterNative, and the MAI Te Kupenga; Post-Graduate national network and programme.

It details and demonstrates this significant activity, connecting with over 60 entities and almost 100 communities, as well as our ongoing commitment to scholarships, and the support of not only our senior academics but also our new and emerging researchers who continue to develop out of the strong collective partnerships we have with our partners nationally and internationally.
NPM is continuing to expand its horizons, leading and contributing to important research outcomes while increasingly building capability for Māori-led research that transforms our communities and nation.

The successes of 2018, as this report demonstrates, contribute to NPM achieving our vision and also moving positively towards the upcoming demands of a new Centre of Research Excellence rebid process this year. The dedication and commitment of NPM as a nationally leading research network, is indeed ensuring that Māori continue to lead New Zealand into the future.
